In 1942 he joined the Navy, where he was a pilot on an aircraft carrier. He was, at that time, the youngest pilot ever. He distinguished himself in his job several times. Bush was shot down by the Japanese, but saved by the American submarine USS Finback.
After World War II, he studied at Yale, where he joined the fraternity Delta Kappa Epsilon (and the secret society Skull and Bones). On January 6, 1945 he married Barbara Pierce. Together they had six children, including George W. Bush and John (Jeb).

Iraq was defeated, but Bush was not ready to drive it one of the government of Saddam Hussein to come. It was only his son George W. Bush, that Saddam Hussein would sell. In April 1993 the Kuwaiti authorities was an Iraqi attempt to murder Bush through a number of car bombs foiled. During the attack, the Iraqi Intelligence Service (Al-Mukhabarat Al-Jihaz A'ma) were involved. The attack, which killed 17 people were detained, was two months later by President Clinton answered by firing 23 cruise missiles at the headquarters of the Mukhabarat. Son George W. Bush called this incident in a campaign speech in September 2002 as a personal motivation for the United States, Saddam Hussein would be off with the words "After all this is the guy who tried to kill my dad at one time."

George Bush suggested a candidate for a second term. He took it while up against Bill Clinton and his running mate Al Gore. Approximately one year before the elections appeared to Bush's success in the Gulf War to ensure that he would win the election easily, but the economic problems made him the tie and he lost the 1992 election with a clear difference of 168 to 370 electoral votes.
